Collaborative Research Center for Resilience (CRCR) nurtures futures that build towards a vibrant democracy and a world where we can all thrive. We bring together collaborators across issue areas—locally and transnationally—to research technologies that shape the governance of our day to day lives. We focus on how to increase participatory engagement and design in government implementation of technologies. We design locally appropriate solutions by expanding collaborations with and across stakeholders.

We develop research, campaigns, networks and solutions around the following areas of work:

Public Infrastructure, Technology and Democracy

This cross-city and cross-sector strategy investigates how emerging technologies often introduced without democratic debatemay further weaken democracy, such as mobile driver’s licenses, digital wallets, and centralized benefits distribution portals. We center sites such as schools and health care.

Resourcing Resiliency

We engage in investigative and community-centered action research to support the work of movement partners. We work closely with partners to develop educational resources grounded in reciprocal forms of knowledge production and exchange. We support network building for collective strategy and visioning.

Reimagining
Security

This project builds with communities, advocates, journalists, and scholars to ensure that our security is rooted in the well-being of all people and the protection of nature. Through documentation, legal, narrative, and power-building strategies, we deepen relationships across geographies and movements to foster a more inclusive and resilient approach to sustainable security.
